31st  USS Pargo Reunion

December 27, 2005

The Les Riley family (Les, Dick, Suzanne, Matt and Sarah) cordially invite you to the 31st  USS Pargo Reunion in Rochester, Minnesota.  Mark your new 2006 calendar with the dates: Wednesday, Sept 20 – Saturday, Sept.23. A hospitality room will be available each day for meeting and greeting all our Pargo friends, even if we haven’t met you yet -- especially those who are new to the reunion or haven’t joined us for awhile.

We look forward to a relaxing visit with our friends and shipmates with good food, good fun and a few side trips in the area.  September is a wonderful time to be in southern Minnesota. Days are usually very pleasant and nights cool and insect free.

Enclosed please find a brochure from the Ramada Inn. It has very nice accommodations with pool, bar and restaurant right in the same complex. Two shopping malls are nearby. A free shuttle van will be available so you won’t even need a car.  Room rates are $79 and $89, depending if you want to be near or away from the pool area.  To make a reservation at this rate, just call the Ramada Inn and tell them you are coming for the USS Pargo Reunion and want the special reunion rate.

Please return the enclosed pre-paid postcard to assist us with our planning. As we get much closer to the reunion, if you express an interest, we will keep you briefed on the plans.

Preliminary plans: Hospitality Room open each day, closed only when we have a group activity. A message board will keep you connected with friends.

Wed Sept. 20 – arrival day for most, hospitality room, supper on your own on site.

Thurs Sept. 21 – Variety of optional daytime activities, then a Minnesota style outdoor supper cookout with entertainment (inside if by some slim chance the weather doesn’t cooperate).

Fri Sept. 22 – Banquet in the evening, preceded by daytime activities: sightseeing, shopping, gambling trip?

Sat Sept. 23 – Memorial and picnic at Rochester Soldier’s Field Veteran’s Memorial Field, Optional activities in afternoon.  Supper on your own, or we may do something together at romantic Victoria’s (Italian anyone?)

Sun Sept. 24 - Departure day, time to say good-bye and start planning for next year!

Even if not attending, feel free to send us copies of photos, memories and anecdotes for a “memories” board in the hospitality room.  We look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it to visit our beautiful city.

Cordially yours,

Les Riley and family
